This is the story of the unconventional lifestyle of two tight arses.
Sometime in the 21st Century, S met W. He, a compulsive no-spender who viewed mostly everything as a carcinogen; she, an expert in getting anything for free who destroyed too many valuables in the process. They were an uncanny match made in heaven, but incredibly confusing subjects to their peers.
You still don’t have a microwave?
What do you mean you never use an ATM?
Did you just say your refrigerator is in the garage?
We Make Do is a collection of essays detailing the unconventional lifestyle S & W have created. Most of the stories are written by W unless otherwise stated. They are real stories about two very real people who might make you cringe or say a little prayer for their salvation.
Who are you, and why do you live like this?
We (S & W) are a young couple from Australia trying to make ends meet as home owners and parents. In most areas of our life we make do with what we have, which either means not spending money on stuff until we can prove it’s a worthwhile investment, or living without because there’s a better (but more tedious) way of doing it. Our lifestyle may attract several eye-rolls and a lot of questions but it works for us. Our end goal is to live debt free in five years, and we try to prioritise family life over everything else.
What to expect from this blog
- Honest stories about our lifestyle
- Shout outs to the stuff we love (and the stuff we don’t use anymore)
- ALL the Gifs
- Good, clean humour
- A few headaches as you try and bear with our unorthodox choices (so pop a Panadol to save yourself)
What not to expect from this blog:
- Too many details about our life because some things should remain a mystery
- Picture perfect descriptions of our life because we live in the real world
- Life coaching, because while this life works for us, this blog is not intended to be a blueprint for frugal living, so please, for the love of all things – don’t copy anything we do. You have been warned.
Hold on to your horses, kids. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.
